The Red Sox lost the first game of the series even with a stellar pitching performance from John Lackey and headed into game two with Jon Lester on the mound. Lester would shine and look like the ace we know him to be and happily he got enough run support to get his 12th win of the season.
The Red Sox offense got the lead early in the game and had good enough pitching to turn it into a win. The Sox scored all 4 of their runs of the game during the first inning. Mike Napoli hit an RBI single to score Victorino and then his beard brother Gomes hit a 3 run HR to have the Sox leading 4-0. Lester took the mound sporting a pretty big lead and never looked back. Lester dominated the Dodgers lineup and cruised through 7 innings without allowing a run to score. Lester took the mound in the 8th, but with one out, he walked Crawford and his night was over. Tazawa came out and while he got the 2nd out, he also gave up a single to Puig. Farrell decided to pull Tazawa in favor of Craig Breslow. Breslow gave up a 2 run RBI double to former Sox Adrian Gonzalez to put the Dodgers on the scoreboard for the first time. Sox 4-2. Breslow issued a walk to Hanley Ramirez and Farrell decided to go with Koji Uehara for a 4 out save. Koji struck out Ellis to end the inning and had himself a nice 1-2-3 inning in the 9th. The Sox played with fire in the 8th inning, but luckily did not get burned.
