I forgot to post the AL East standing last week, but I didn't forget this week….so here they are:

The Red Sox are still hanging on to the lead in the AL East, even though the Rays are constantly nipping at our heels.  Since the All Star Break the Sox have slumped a little bit, but they've been able to troop through much due to the Rays having a little slump of their own.  However, the Rays have turned it on as of late, so the Sox are gonna have to do the same to stay on top.

In the last week or so, the Sox lost a series to both the Jays and the Yankees and then won a series against the Giants.  The Sox also made news with the intentional plunking of ARod by Ryan Dempster.  Unfortunately since that time the Yankees have seemingly come alive and have been doing nothing but winning.  The Sox now face off against the Dodgers and of course the former Sox of Gonzo, Crawford and Punto.  The Dodgers have been on an absolute tear as of late, so the Sox need the series, but it's not a slam dunk.  The Sox then have an off day on Monday and then head home for a series with the Orioles.  The Sox need to get back to their winning ways and hope that the Rays continue to find a slump or skid from time to time.  It looks like the AL East is gonna be a grind of a race that is probably going to come down to the last few days of the season.
