Guess who’s back? Dice-K’s back!
Exactly one year to the day of the date that Daisuke Matsuzaka had Tommy John surgery he will be taking the mound for the Red Sox. Dice-K will be pitching on Saturday in Daniel Bard’s spot in the rotation.
Dice-K had what was supposed to be a final short outing on Tuesday before being activated. The Sox hoped that he would pitch 3 innings and then be pulled. The outing did not go as planned since Dice-K struggled. Dice-K threw 40 pitches through 1.1 innings. He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks. However, prior to this start Dice-K had done well in his previous two AAA rehab starts. On May 26, Dice-K pitched 5 scoreless innings giving up one hit and one walk. On May 31, Dice-K pitched 5.1 innings allowing only one hit and no walks.
I know I am in the minority, but I’m excited to see Dice-K back in the rotation. I’ve always been a big ol’ fan of Dice-K and think that he be a help to our rotation right now.
