David Ortiz and Jonathan Papelbon both filed for free agency today. Ben Cherington has said he would like to keep both players but the Red Sox have not made a formal offer to either one yet.
The Red Sox have until the end of the day to decide on Wheeler’s $3 million option. If they decline it he will become a free agent.
