The 5th Annual Beckett Bowl was last night at Lucky Strike in Boston. It’s an event which raises money for the Josh Beckett Foundation and the Children’s Hospital of Boston. Lots of Sox players were in attendance alongside Josh Beckett including John Lackey, Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, Dustin Pedroia, Adrian Gonzalez, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dan Wheeler, Rich Hill, Andrew Miller, Mike Aviles and Jed Lowrie. Danielle Paille and Dennis Seidenberg from the Boston Bruins as well as numerous other athletes.
The highlight of the night was not only seeing the athletes, but seeing them interacting with the kids from the Children’s Hospital. Those children were truly the stars of the show. They walked the red carpet with the athletes and then rocked a bowling alley inside the event.
I was able to meet and chat with a few of the players’ wives and just hear about their experiences being in Boston. It was a really nice time to just see the players hanging out together and having a good time. It also was a really great way to raise lots of money for a great cause. I’ve always been so impressed with how dedicated to charity the Red Sox are and Josh Beckett is no exception. Josh is not known well for being all chuck full of smiles when he is on the mound or talking with the media, but last night a smile was plastered all over his face.
Another interesting tidbit, Jed Lowrie quite a good bowler. The rest of them, well…I won’t say much. It was a great time. If you ever have the chance to get tickets to the event, I’d highly recommend it. Beckett Bowl is totally a BLAST!
Here are some pictures from the event. They aren’t the best in the world, but it kind of gives you an idea of the event:
