Hurricane Irene + Sox = Doubleheader On Saturday

Hurricane Irene is making her way up the coast and looks like she is gonna mess with Boston a wee bit or a lot on Sunday. The possibility of getting a game played is little to none. The Sox and A’s don’t have any other off days in common for the rest of the season so the game can’t just be postponed to another time.

The Red Sox officially announced that there will be no game on Sunday and a split doubleheader on Saturday. Red Sox Player Representative Dan Bard said that the team voted and rejected the idea of a Friday doubleheader, but was willing to do one on Saturday. The A’s also got to vote and it looks like they agreed as well.

This will also mean that the Sox will have 2 days off before the Yankees series that starts on Tuesday (Monday was an already scheduled off day) and that extra rest I do not mind AT ALL!

All 3 games of the A’s series will be televised on NESN.
