When is the Sox front office going to wake up and realize that John Lackey just isn’t cutting it? The other night, in a contest that was very important, he imploded late in the game. His ERA is over 8.
He should, at the very least, go to the bullpen, and if that doesn’t help, maybe a deal could be made. I know that Wakefield is only a spot starter, but he could be tried in the rotation, and if that doesn’t work, maybe Brandon Duckworth or Matt Fox could be brought up from Pawtucket and given a chance to start.
In one and a quarter seasons, Lackey certainly has not been anywhere near worth the money.
