Josh Beckett continued right where he left off against the Yankees last week. He went seven innings and gave up just one run on three hits while striking out nine. Bard gave up one hit in the eighth but did not allow any runs and Papelbon pitched a perfect ninth (thanks to a great sliding catch by Mike Cameron toe end the game) to earn his second save of the season.
The Legend of Jed Lowrie fueled the Red Sox offense from the lead-off spot in the order with three hits including a home run.
