Things like this can only happen in Boston where the media and fans live and die by every pitch in the baseball season. As many were hammering the final nails in Big Papi’s coffin and replacing him with Mike Lowell as the savior of the Sox, a new mole appeared for the wacking; the bullpen. The back to back games blown by the pen have many reaching for the panic button. Here’s a sampling of the doom and gloom.
Relievers are spoiling Red Sox plans– ESPN Boston
Five Things We Learned: Red Sox pen is not mighty– WEEI
Daniel Bard, and bullpen as a whole, not quite enough lately– Projo Sox Blog
All of the above articles are from very good reporters. The bullpen has not been good to start the season, but just as was the case with Ortiz, give it a little time before assuming the bullpen will be bad all season. If Beckett has another bad start tonight look for him to be the next mole to be whacked along with Theo for giving him a contract extension.
UPDATE: Gordon Edes responded to this post via Twitter:

nobody is suggesting that Bard be shipped out to Mogadishu
