Paps Serves One Up

homer

John Lackey made the most of his first start for the Red Sox.  He pitched six innings and only gave up three hits.  He did however double his spring walk total with two.  He had a chance to win the game because the Red Sox were up 1-0 thanks to Big Papi’s first hit of the year, which also happened to be an RBI.  The rest of the offense could not get a timely hit and stranded too many runners on base.

Nick Swisher singled in Posada in the seventh to tie up the game.  Francona decided to bring in Papelbon to pitch the ninth and brought him back out in the tenth.  Unfortunately Paps gave up a home run to Granderson giving the Yanks the lead for good.  They added another run in the inning and Mo came in to do his thing and shut down the Sox for his second save of the season.
