Pedroia Used Negative Media as Motivation

During his fundraiser speech in his hometown last night, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said he used the negative critisism from the Boston media during his rookie year as motivation for his future success.  He also said the interview with Boston Magazine where he called Woodland “a dump” was the only thing he regretted in life.

Earlier in the day Pedroia told WEEI his trash-talking began in Woodland:

“I definitely got my trash-talking from here, that’s a fact,” Pedroia said. “Trash-talking, it starts at a young age. It can even start at three, four years old and then moving up. The more you talk trash, the better you become at it.”
