So far new Yankee Stadium has been a $1.5 billion disaster. Let’s take a look at some of the problems:
- Yankee fans are already wishing they could move back across the street.
- Security nearly caused a riot by not readmitting fans after they wrongly said last night’s game was rained out.
- The seats are overpriced and the stadium looks empty.
- The Stadium has given up more home runs in its first 11 games than any other stadium’s first 11 games.
- The Yankees are overcharging networks to park and power their broadcast trucks.
- Red Sox fans were as vocal as Yankee fans in their first meeting in the Bronx.
- The food is overrated.
- Security accused Broadcaster Paul O’Neil of “loitering” while he was watching BP and made him leave, they also banned his wife from the Yankee Wives Room.
- Stadium officials had to sign gag orders so they will not talk to the press.
- The Yankees are jamming frequencies or walkie-talkies so out of town broadcasters can’t use their own equipment and are forced to rent from the Yankees.
- The Yankees have flaked on helping out kids that lost their playing fields when the new Stadium was built.
- Fans can’t move to a better seat in upper deck in the middle of a game when the stadium is mostly empty after a long rain delay.
- and the Yankees are under a state investigation for stadium funding issues.
All this great news for Red Sox fans and it’s only May of year one for the new Stadium; this could be the gift that keeps on giving.
