Duncan Keith took a hack at a player’s face, and only missed a game of the playoffs. Corey Crawford went after Robby Fabbri after the above incident, and somehow, the Blackhawks were the team that ended up with the power play. Andrew Shaw was heard screaming an expletive from the penalty box at a referee, and one is nearly reaching the point where one expects this will be ignored by the NHL as well.
No matter though, as the St. Louis Blues are doing something we aren’t used to the Blues doing: overcoming adversity. The Blues scored 4 times, including a pair in the 4th period. There was a major rumble at the end of the game, resulting in 11 players receiving game misconducts. Game 5 will be intense, and both teams will feel as though they will be battling each other, as well as outside persecution; the Blues from the NHL, and the Blackhawks from the court of public opinion.
SCOREBOARD
Tampa Bay 3, Detroit 2 – The Red Wings had stymied the Lightning in the first game back in Detroit, but Tampa found another gear, with help a motivated Jonathan Drouin and his 3 assists. (TB leads 3-1)
Pittsburgh 3, New York Rangers 1 – The Pens stymied any offense from New York, who only ended up with 18 shots on goal. (PIT leads 2-1)
St. Louis 4, Chicago 3 – The thing that might be lost out of all this is that Brian Elliott was an absolute rockstar for the Blues. And he didn’t have to punch anyone. (STL leads 3-1)
Anaheim 3, Nashville 0 – The Ducks looked completely floored by their first two games with the Preds. The cloying D that seems to emerge from Anaheim in the playoffs every year came back in Nashville. (NSH leads 2-1)
