TNT’s Announcing Assignment for NBA Eastern Conference Finals

TNT has announced the announcing team for the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals which will take place once the Celtics-Magic series is over. This season, TNT has the East, ESPN/ABC will have the West.

This paragraph is part of a longer press release regarding another topic, but I saw this paragraph and will post it.

This season, TNT is the exclusive home of the 2009 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. TNT’s coverage will feature a live studio show originating from the game locations with Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley joined by Reggie Miller for the entire series. Marv Albert and Doug Collins will call the Eastern Conference Finals, with Craig Sager reporting from the sideline.

While I agree with Doug Collins, he’s the best NBA analyst bar none, but what about Kevin Harlan? He’s been teamed with Collins for most of the season and the playoffs. While Marv is a legend, I feel it’s time for Kevin Harlan to take over as the #1 NBA announcer for TNT.

It’s like the CBC which has the legendary Bob Cole on the NHL and has called practically every important hockey game for the network over the last two decades, but has Jim Hughson waiting in the wings.

Let Kevin be the number one guy on the NBA on TNT. He’s deserved it.
