In the past 2 games, the Cardinals have made 54 outs. Strikeouts have accounted for 30 of those outs.
THIRTY!
This bout of fungo futility has appeared from nowhere. Even when you include the past two days, the Cardinals still rank 20th in MLB in strikeouts. At 243 team strikeouts, they’re 17 below the NL average of 260. Before these past 2 games, they were ranked in the bottom 5 in this category (which is good, BTW).
Fluke? Let’s hope so.
Matt Adams with some major snappage after his most recent strikeout. Wrecked his bat.

This was the 8th series that the Cardinals and Indians have ever played but by taking 2 of 3, this was the first time the Cards won the series.
They now stand at 8-15 all-time versus Cleveland and do not face them again in the 2015 regular season.
Mike Wacha didn’t have his most efficient start, needing 105 pitches to get through 5 innings. But he didn’t give up any runs and the bullpen (again) came through with some stellar relief work.
Matt Carpenter came in and got the 2 runs needed to win with a home run that was thiiiiiiis close to being the catch of the week.
But it wasn’t, so let’s re-watch it!
Win series. Go to the playoffs.
It really is that simple. And as we move past the midway point in May, the Cardinals have only lost 1 series so far. Unsurprisingly, they’re in a commanding position atop the NL Central.
The Detroit Tigers are heading to Busch this weekend for a possible 2015 World Series preview. The Cards are 14-3 at home and the Tigers are 10-6 on the road.
This should be good.
