Pegula rules!

Alright, it’s 9:30PM on Tuesday, and I just got home from work. I didn’t listen to the presser live because I was looking for deer hunters for a new show I’m casting for. However, I was able to keep up with it on Twitter. Now, if you think I have the energy to put together some tear jerking post, I can’t. I worked all day and made 1,000 phone calls to deer hunters. I’m tapped out.

Katebits, Heather B., Sully and others can probably do the honor for you. However, Judging by the tweets, it was epic. There was crying, there was hope, there were dreams and judging by the tweets, Pegula was living his dreams out. Now, I’m going to watch it. Be back in like 30.

Alright, I’m back.

Thoughts on RJ: Funny joke about Bettman being the 5th owner.

Thoughts on Gare Bear: Thanks, Gary, for telling us that we rock. I mean, you don’t really have a choice other than to kiss our asses because we are one of the 6 or 7 major hockey markets in the States that gives a crap about our hockey team. BTW, who claps? The press? Does Bucky start doing the Arseno Hall chant of “WOOOHOOHOOO,” while fist pumping? Also, Garry needs to work on public speaking. While I’m not one to talk, even though I’m not a commissioner, he sounds like someone is grabbing his b@lls under the podium, while he is speaking .

Thoughts on Terry’s Intro: Very nice tie and thanks for telling me that Golisano rescued the hockey team. As if we didn’t hear it 1,0023,03020 times from Tom and Larry during their reign. Alright, I should lay off, I mean he did sell the team to someone that obviously loves hockey.

Thoughts on Terry’s son: Yeah, memo to Sabres.com, you may want to get a 2nd camera for your press conferences, so I don’t have to see just the back of his son’s head and half of his suit.

Thoughts on Terry intro of his daughters: Aww..that’s really cute. I don’t have kids, but I’d know that I’d get emotional introducing my kids at a press conference like that. I like this guy already.

Thoughts on Terry’s daughters: Oh, Terry, we know who your daughters are. They are on twitter 24/7. BTW, anyone who is begging them to follow them on Twitter, is a nerd!

2nd thoughts on Terry’s daughters: Ah..so Terry does know about his daughter’s exploits on twitter. On a sidenote, I don’t care what those girls say, and I’m not saying that as a jerk, I’m happy they care, but if you think I’m going to go off the deep end if they say something that people disagree with, you’re totally wrong. Mainly, because I don’t care.

Memo to Sabres.com: You may want to have the 2nd part of the news conference appear right after the first one concludes. I mean, having a Sabres vs Bruins game come up doesn’t really make any sense

Terry on his hero: Wow. I’m speechless. Awesome. I guess we hired Dick Vermeil as our owner. All kidding aside, that’s emotional. Great stuff. What was crazy about it was how he looked off camera and weeped, “I’m not going to look there too much.” I’m like, what is he talking about? His dad? His mom? Quinn? Bettman? JR Ewing? Ed Kilgore? Um…his hero, Gilbert Perreault?! WOW. Awesome. I wish I could have seen it live. I mean, I knew he cried judging from the tweets, but I KNOW it would have hit me harder than it is right now. Alright, I’m rewinding it again….STILL AWESOME!

Terry on cups: Now that’s when their should have been a standing ovation! Like cow tipping or people storming the ice and yelling, “Lets trash this place!!!” Oh, right,  the presser is only for media, alumni and Phil. 🙂 Not really sure about his quote on “getting the media  to pull in their direction.” I mean, does he want Sully to write about the team’s immaculate run to 8th place? Alright, I’m joking, but I’ve read too many posts today of fans crying into their laptops. Hey, it’s not a bad thing, I’m emotional too, but I’m trying to add humor to the situation…or sound different. Alright, I’m just beat and this post is going down the toilet.

Terry on scouting: Alright, if I have one person commend his efforts on improving scouting, when we all know that some of you have said that the video scouting system was awesome and that TBN sucks for saying that it was cheap, then I’m punching you. Alright, I’m kidding. However, it’s better to have more hands involved in the scouting aspect.

Terry on the Pittsburgh boys: Alright! I like this! Bringing in people who have won cups. Guys that have touched the Cup, and no, I’m not talking about Tom Golisano touching it at the Galleria Mall because it was on tour there in May of 2007. As I said on the Sabres podcast, I hope this black character whips MSG, Sabres.com and anyone who holds a camera in Buffalo into shape. We deserve that. BTW, the last time we employed Pittsburgh connections with our team, it kind of sucked (See: Donahoe and Mularkey). I kid, but I’m just saying.

Terry on Dan It’s not delivery, it’s Digiorno Dipofi: I’m cool with keeping him. I mean, I never heard of the guy until this year, so I don’t really hate him. Ha! Maybe Larry Quinn is secretly running the Sabres through Dipolfi? You know, double agent?!

Terry on Ruff: So, he’s a fan of Ruff? Looks like my grand kids will be watching Ruff coach this team in 2050.

Terry on “having to be the best to study the best”: Damn it, if only I got that advice in high school, maybe I wouldn’t have flunked math.

Terry on the Rooneys: Hey, if you are going to quote the Steelers hierarchy, you may as well be quoting the bible!

Terry on Gilbert and crying: Great joke.

Terry Black: Kind of looks like Alec Baldwin or one of the 500 Baldwin brothers. Oh, wow! He’s staying at a hotel. Lets send him tapes of Empire Sports, to go along with a case of Genny Cream Ale. So, the cup would be going down Main Street? Hmmm..I’d rather it go down Elmwood or Delaware Avenue.

Oh, Great! They finally broke out the 2nd camera. I guess the cameraman forgot the lens cap. Nice to see the alumni, and who is this guy announcing the festivities? Is it the Snow guy on Twitter? Dude kind of looks like the kid from Boy Meets World, but like 30 years later.

Bucky Gleason’s question: Ha, I like the joke by Bucky about stalking Pegula. BTW, doesn’t Bucky kind of look related to Brad Riter? Like seriously, they totally look the same. Uncanny and yet, they are so different.

Hey, Sabres.com is putting up a lower third (IE: Graphic, with Pegula’s name. Things are changing on the TV side).

Ed Kilgore’s question: Ah, Ed. Did you know that I was a sports intern at channel 2 in 2002? Ed is a great guy. Very nice and no ego. If you wanted to walk in his office and ask him about how to make it in TV, he’d sit with you and talk. No strings attach. I assure you, a lot of people aren’t like that in TV..MAINLY ME!! HAHA!! I kid. I have no clue what Ed asked, because I was looking at Nick Mendola’s paperboy hat. I think I have the same one.

Pegula on Darcy: He hasn’t heard a bad word about Darcy? Well, he may want to talk to the 2 million people who live in Buffalo.

Ha, I really like how Pegula is messing with the TV guys. I use to want to be like them, but I can’t talk without saying “I know” and “FU#K.”

There’s a lot of water on that table.

Pegula on being a fan: Yes, Terry, take a bow. You are a fan and we can tell. I don’t think I could ever cry over Matt Barnaby.

Scott Brown’s question: First off, whose this dude? He looks like a poor man’s Ted Kopel. I kid, but good question about the money aspect. That’s what fans want to hear. They want to hear that he doesn’t need the money. Great quote on the oil well. We don’t need JR Ewing.

Terry living in Flordia: Hey, we are use to owners not living in Buffalo. Ralph in Detroit and Golisano in Flordia. However, we know that he’ll be like Ralph, and come to as many games as possible. I wonder how good his daughter is at Tennis? I’ve been reading Agassi’s book, holy crap, his dad was insane when it came to teaching him.

Brad Riter question: Did you know that Brad Riter has declared war on everyone!?! Good question about when Terry wanted to buy the team.

Terry on Lindy Ruff coaching the Olympics: Hmmm..did Jeremey White tell him about that? Yes, it was so hard for a coach to coach the greatest players on god’s green earth. Alright, lets just add 30 years to it. My Great, Great Grandkids will be watching Ruff coach from a hospital bed, with an I.V. and false teeth.

Some kid asks about the Rochester Americans being saved?: Um, yeah, lets save one franchise at a time here, junior. Pegula needs to save the Bills. Dumb question. And why can’t I get a press pass? Right, because I can’t spell!

Mike Harrington’s question: Yes, voted as the #1 reporter in Buffalo by the Sabres bloggers, twitter people, and all computer nerds.. it’s Mike Harrington. Did you know that he listened to our hockey podcast?  Great question by Mike. Interesting response by Pegula about the cap…He didn’t really say he was going to spend to the cap, but he kind of did..hmmm..

Paul Hamilton’s question: Did you know that Paul has blocked me on Twitter? What the hell did I do wrong? I’m a nice guy. I like his reporting and sure, he seems to laugh at all of Lindy Ruff’s stupid jokes, but he’s cool. I just think his radio station stinks at times. Great question about freeing up Darcy. You see, I like you, Paul. Unblock me, dude!! 😉

Nick Mendola’s question about talking to Lindy and Darcy: Nick looks like he just came back from Scotland Yard, while investigating a crime with Sherlock Holmes. Hey, if the look fits,  then you must not acquit.

103.3 the Edge’s Bull asks a question: Um, who the hell comes to a press conference in a damn Sabres jersey? Again, I ask, why don’t I have a press pass? I look damn good in a suit! Actually, Bull asks a great question. You go DJ dude!

Who the hell keeps asking about the Rochester Americans?! My god, find someone else to save your team?!

Pegula on his kids: Happy that his daughter is a huge fan and kept him informed.

Alright, enough of these news reporters asking questions. Let the sports guys do their thing. We all know that news people look down at sports. I assure you, I’m not saying that as a stupid blogger, but as a fact!

Artvoice is in the house? For the third time, where is my press pass!? What’s he going to ask? The design of the logo? The architecture of the Harbor Club? Educate Terry on what kind of strip clubs he should attend to while in Buffalo?

Alright, it’s 11:55. I’m dozing off. I honestly should have taken off today for Pegula Day. I know I’d be drooling over his words. I assure you, I’m happy as the next guy.

Crap! I just realized I skipped part II of the Q&A, alright gotta go back. Again, thanks, Sabres.com for not having the video clips go on automatically after they end. I mean, if some loser on youtube can do that, why not them? Fire them, Terry!?!

Oh, wait. I’m losing my mind. I already watched this part. I’m sorry, Sabres.com

Alright, I think I watched all of this. Anyways, I’m sorry my post kind of sucks in comparison to everyone else’s. Honestly, I’m thrilled! I’m happy for the Sabres. Frankly, before today, I looked at Pegula as just being a guy with a ton of money. A guy who I only cared about his money, so we can win a cup! After his opening, I gotta say, I’m happy to call him a Buffalonian. I didn’t just look at him as a Mark Cuban or just an object, who would just give the team money to win. I look at him now as someone I’d want to root for. He gets it. He’s a fan. After hearing his words, I didn’t think much about Stanley Cups or parades. I just thought…wow, he’s one of us. He’s a fan. He’s living his dream just like all of us should.
