Rexall Place is terrifying

Anyone that has ever watched a game featuring the Edmonton Oilers knows one thing: Rexall Place is about as well lit as a dungeon. Why is this? Is there any legitimate explanation?

Good, because I have a handful of ideas that are probably not accurate in any way.

– Intimidation factor, since the team doesn’t have any intimidating players.

– Heat from lights attracts polar bears.

– All the money for the power bill was spent on Dustin Penner

– So far off from any real electrical grid, still using about 1000 generators. Have to drive clear to Saskatoon to get those suckers refueled!

– Wanted to go with the the teams overall theme of “depressing”

– Due to distance from the rest of civilization, one must account for the fact that, given the speed of light, there will be timing issues getting everything on the screen at the time.

– Bad civil engineering.

– I don’t know, maybe the ice looks funny.
