The Clark County Vipers opened the season on Saturday against one of the tougher teams in the Pacific Football League. It was the perfect day for football at Kiggen’s Bowl Stadium, as both teams were anxious to begin. The game started with a bang as both sides took turns going 4 and out on offense. Neither of the defenses would let up long enough for either team’s offense to get on a roll. Then, with 19 seconds left in the first quarter, # 17 Kyle English kept a play alive by rolling out of the pocket. With defenders in pursuit, Kyle threw the ball up, finding TE #88 Vincent Gillam who took it in for the touchdown. The Bulldogs answered back in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own, and with that the flood gates opened. The Bulldogs would then go on to put up 44 points against the Vipers without an answer back from the Vipers’ offense. The final score when the game was done was Vipers 7 Bulldogs 44.
There was a silver lining though, as many players had the moments to shine in the game. From sacks and interceptions to hard hits on the special teams, there were a lot of good plays that went along with the bad. Hopefully this week, the Vipers can lick their wounds and get back to the basics in time for their road game this week against the Outlaws.
