The internet is abuzz right now talking about how the officials screwed Rutgers at the end of their loss against St John’s. Before I post the video of the final 5 seconds, here is a quick recap. With 14 seconds left, Mike Coburn drove to the basket, put up a shot in the lane, looked like he was fouled, missed, and drew no call. That wasn’t as bad as what would happen next. That’s something that goes uncalled occaisionally in close games. St John’s went to the line after that. They missed a free throw. Jonathan Mitchell was going for the ball, but a St John’s player pushed him down, a clear over the back. The ball went back to St John’s, who made 1 of 2. Then this happened.

Thanks to @bubbaprog for the video.
Honestly, the last 15 seconds of the game the worst officiated I have ever seen. A clear as fucking day travel with 1.7 seconds. Jim Burr runs off the floor like a bitch after the buzzer. Mike Rice and his squad deserved better. Instead, they got screwed over by Tim Higgins and crew. Doug Gottlieb said they should be suspended for the rest of the BET. Andy Katz said the NCAA tournament. I agree with Katz on this one. I don’t know what the Big East is going to do, but they should throw the book at the officials. I think they should be banned from calling a Big East game for a year. I don’t know who said it, but the average age of the officials in this game was 78. Seventy eight. It’s a disgrace. I feel incredibly bad for the Rutgers players who had their careers end. They deserved better. Hell, everyone deserves better. Disgusting.
