The Cincinnati Bearcats closed the regular season with a dominant 28-6 run and blew out the Georgetown Hoyas today, 69-47. The last 9 minutes were owned by the Bearcats. Best 9 minutes of the season. The Bearcats seemingly did no wrong. Yancy Gates closed the half with a banked 3 pointer. UC hit 9-22 from deep. Darnell Wilks was 2-2 from three. UC held the Hoyas to 32% shooting. In a even bigger example of how well UC was locked in, the Bearcats hit 21 free throws in a row at one point, and hit 24-30 for the game. Dion Dixon led the way with 14, Yancy Gates had 13, 10 from the line, and Sean Kilpatrick had 13 as well. Kilpatrick had a majority of his buckets in the second half, including a 3 when Georgetown cut the lead to 3 with 9 minutes left. The Bearcats weren’t going to lose. It was a special day.
23-7, 11-7 in the Big East. 7th seed in the Big East tournament. Damn. I love this team. Also, this.
